A passionate singer, Lisa Moscatiello has fronted a number of local folk-related bands over the past decade, most notably the New St. George. Since that band broke up, Moscatiello has begun a solo career and released her first CD, Innocent When You Dream, which includes a surprising range of material, from traditional French and Scottish ballads to soulful, jazzy interpretations of songs by the likes of Janis Ian and Tom Waits. Tonight Moscatiello is paired with Susan McKeown, another singer with strong traditional roots. The Dublin native (and present Manhattanite) takes those roots in a different direction, however. McKeown’s repertoire focuses on original songs that mix her Irish heritage with contemporary rock and jazz shadings. Imagine a female Van Morrison whose music retains a more pronounced Irish flavor. At 8 p.m. at Silver Spring Unitarian Universalist Church, 10309 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring. $12. (301) 588-7270. (Ken Roseman)
