There’s still time to nominate local icons for Best of D.C.
Thank you a thousand times for your devotion to D.C. in general and in particular for your brave exposés of local community shenanigans, which, left to the Post, might never see the light of day.
I commend Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for his superb reporting and investigation of the Logan Circle dungeon (“Circling the Wagons,” 1/17). How could that group be “libeled”? Libel implies falsehood, where every word of this article was unmitigated truth. They gather ’round the witches’ pot to search out victims. If you need meat for future articles, ask any church within 12 miles, any mission that tries to minister to the poor, homeless, or helpless. Their one saving grace is to remove graffiti from their neighborhood.
This ANC is no “grass roots institution.” Average people are so disgusted with their devious tactics they will not attend meetings, which usually have two or three citizens at most, who are never permitted to express opinions. Wilkes Artis is their champion. Their targets and victims are decent middle-class working people who prefer to help their less advantaged neighbors than to indulge in character assassination and gentrification.
Again, thank you for your good work and honest interpretation of our diverse city problems.
