FRIDAY
How well do you know your civil rights? Civil rights history, that is. According to the panelists getting their chat on at the “Preserving the History of the Civil Rights Movement” discussion, most people don’t know Rosa Parks from Central Park. In conjunction with the Smithsonian’s celebration of Black History Month, four civil rights-museum directors, Lawrence Pijeaux, Juanita Moore, Joanne Bland, and Barbara Tagger, share their efforts to keep the stories of Parks and other black leaders alive in their institutions and America’s memory. At 12:30 p.m. at Ripley Center Lecture Hall, 1100 Jefferson Dr. SW. FREE. (202) 357-2700. (Florence Brown)
