Dozens of prominent Washingtonians have lent a hand, and in some cases a foot, to help D.C. public schools. “Hands of D.C.” is a benefit for the third annual Hands on D.C. workathon, in which thousands of young people get together to clean up District schools and raise scholarship funds. The benefit, a dessert party at the Mansion on O Street, will feature a silent auction of autographed handprints from a list of celebrity politicians, media personalities, athletes, artists, and names in the news. Marion Barry, Bob Dole, Plácido Domingo, Diane Rehm, and many others have lent a hand. Members of D.C. United lent their feet. Al Franken and Arianna Huffington lent their left and right hands, respectively. Dress swankily and enjoy complimentary wine and beer while you study your autograph-collection options. At 8 p.m. at the Mansion, 2020 O St. NW. $35. (202) 667-5808. (Holly Bass)
