MONDAY
Trumpeter/flugelhornist Randy Brecker will play anything (jazz-rock, cheez pop, hard-bop) with anyone (Blood, Sweat & Tears, James Taylor, Horace Silver) anywhere (My mom’s expecting a Brecker concert in her living room soon). Randy brings his bristling tone and catholic tastes to the Kennedy Center, where Dr. Billy Taylor should rein in the brassman’s roaming for an evening of compact and smiley neo-bop. (I’m all warm and fuzzy just thinking about it.) At 7:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. $15. (202) 467-4600. (Christopher Porter)
