Danae Elon and Pierre Chainet’s 60-minute documentary, Never, Again, Forever, offers a quick sketch of the Jewish Defense League, from its origins in New York City to its current status as an outlaw “terrorist” organization in Israel, where most of its members nonetheless now live. Matter-of-fact discussions of bygone violent operations are intercut with scenes of contemporary blind rage; one rifle-packing New York preteen announces that 6 million (or more) Arabs should die to compensate for the Holocaust. The effect is vivid but cryptic; some context or commentary wouldn’t have hurt. The music is by Peter Scherer (formerly of the Ambitious Lovers). At 8 p.m. tonight and Friday at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden’s Ring Auditorium, 7th & Independence Ave. SW. FREE. (202) 357-2700. (MJ)
