Far from playing the somnambulant reveries its moniker implies, the Sleepytime Trio serves the kids insurgent punk-rock lullabies on a silver platter. Combining dramatic dynamics, hoarse vocals, and heavy guitar gymnastics, their songs soak into the skin, leaving behind an adrenaline-induced afterglow. With the four (yes, four) band members all based in different cities, it’s a wonder they get anything done, but these guys have managed to put out two 7-inches as well as record an album with Jay Robbins (of Jawbox fame) to be released on Lovitt Records this spring. Appearing with the Lonesome Organist and Red Red Meat at 9:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $6. (202) 667-7960. (Amy Domingues)
