I enjoyed reading Etelka Lehoczky’s review of Marianna Torgovnick’s Primitive Passions: Men, Women and the Quest for Ecstasy (City Books, 4/4). It got me interested in reading the book for myself, which, ideally, is the purpose of a book review.
I especially enjoyed the inclusion of James Tiptree Jr., particularly the mention of “All the Kinds of Yes” (referenced blind). It should be noted that Alice Sheldon committed suicide about six or seven years ago at her home in Alexandria (I think it was Alexandria), so referring to her in the present tense may confuse some readers.
