Silly me. I thought that when Sen. Chuck Robb (D-Va.) was re-elected in 1994 over the extreme Oliver North that he would serve a full six-year term, as the state constitution allows. Now I read in Loose Lips (5/2), that Rep. Tom Davis thinks he can close the Lorton prison complex and thereby run for Senate in 1998. I often question Davis’ thinking, but in this case I think it’s Washington City Paper that needs an education. The next Virginia Senate race is in 2000. The election is held statewide. And I can assure you that no amount of meddling with Lorton is going to get Davis over to the north side of the Capitol anytime soon. Unless that is, he wants to go visit Chuck.
