MAY 22 & 23

To make O Amor Natural, Dutch filmmaker Heddy Honigmann wandered the streets of Rio de Janeiro, asking older people to read Carlos Drummond’s sensual love poetry for her camera. The resulting documentary (if that’s the right word) is alternately funny and poignant. “The poems sometimes functioned as a corkscrew, sometimes as a glass of water, sometimes as a glass of brandy,” reports the director, whose previous Tot Ziens explored erotic territory with flesh rather than words.
