Ideally located between the “totalism” of New York’s Bang on a Can and that collective’s Dutch godfather, composer Louis Andriessen, the London-based Icebreaker exuberantly blurs the distinctions between the concert hall and the dance club. It is fitting that the 14-member ensemble recently recorded Bang on a Can founder Michael Gordon’s 130bpm Trance, perhaps the first classical-label release to feature bonus remix tracks. From worldbeat drone to Philip Glass shimmer to Michael Nyman jauntiness, Trance is an eventful tour of some 30 years of Eastern-inspired Western music. Icebreaker plays at 9:30 p.m. at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. $25. (202) 467-4600. (MJ)
