JUNE 16

Would you really want to read a book that begins, “When my attorneys, Robert Levine and Loren Plotkin, suggested I write a book…”? No, not at all. Unless I told you that the author was Isabella Rossellini (pictured, with former husband Martin Scorsese). Ah, say it with me, slowly: Eeess-a-belll-ah-rosss-ah-leeeen-eee! Mmmm…the hypnotic, alluring sound in perfect sync with the visual. The rich are different. As are the beautiful and the famous. So the rich, beautiful, famous children of the rich, beautiful, and famous exist in a parallel universe, unknowable to you or me. The enchanting Ms. R has provided intermittent road maps to the rarefied dimension she inhabits in her book, Some of Me. The charm is that she offers it to us as if we could comprehend its strange language. All we can grasp is the melody: Eeess-a-belll-ah-rosss-ah-leeeen-eee. The actress/model/author touches down at 7 p.m. at Politics & Prose, 5015 Connecticut Ave. NW. FREE. (202) 364-1919. (Dave Nuttycombe)
