After reading Stephanie Mencimer’s “Prisoners of Love” (6/13), I realized that nothing would be more satisfying than to learn that on the day of Ms. Mencimer’s fabulous “country wedding,” she finds herself without a way to get to the ceremony.
Under duress, she tells Tina Ramsey of her situation, and Ms. Ramsey, the details of this story still irritating her as they did me, simply goes in Ms. Mencimer’s place, getting married herself to that wonderful man who has done oh so much.
Simply put, to put a story before common sense and decency, going to see another woman’s manin jail, hundreds of miles awayfor some kind of “it happened to me” shit, is just straight-up tacky.
