I strongly disagree with your negative depiction of the National Organization for Women’s internship program (“The Seventh Circle of Hell,” 6/20). My internship with the Lesbian Rights Project of NOW two summers ago changed my life: I attended meetings all over Washington with prominent feminist and gay/lesbian leaders, attended a hearing on Capitol Hill, and did substantive legislative research. My supervisor, Kimberlee Ward, was one of the most phenomenal and inspiring people I’ve ever met, and my time at NOW solidified my desire to become a professional activist. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
