I’m sure you will receive many letters about “Hipper Than Thou” by Suzanne Kim (6/20), and the inconsistent door policy at the 18th Street Lounge. Most, I’d guess, will question Kim’s need to write about a club that doesn’t deserve any recognition. Being bald, in my 50s, and without much panache (on the outside—when alone I’m a dashing individual), I’m sure I’ll never get to see the club’s mismatched couches and low lighting.

But I write about Kim’s feeling that the club is “the newest addition to D.C.’s limited menu of nightlife options.” From my travels and experience, D.C. and the D.C. area have an abundance of nightlife options, of many different varieties.

A suggestion for Ms. Kim: Check out any edition of the Washington City Paper. There you will find tens and tens of pages devoted to D.C. and the area’s nightlife choices.
