I wish the editors had shown some intelligent restraint and not printed Dave McKenna’s very cruel and unfunny description of Muhammad Ali’s current situation (City Lights, 6/20). When McKenna twisted the famous phrase to say that Ali is now “walking like a mummy and shaking like a leaf” I was shaken by images of the people I know who also have Parkinson’s disease—people who, with their minds intact, are trapped inside bodies that have slowly ceased to function.

Someone should have seen that McKenna’s words were too low, mean, and seventh-grade, even for Washington City Paper.
