While your article “When Meters Expire” (7/4) was interesting, one sentence particularly struck me: “By attempting to evenly distribute
public resources…the parking meter intrudes on the American motorist’s sense of entitlement to life, liberty, and free stuff from the government.” Free stuff? Excuse me? Who do you think pays for the roads, the meters, and even the salaries of the ticket writers?
