I don’t mean to say that Arion Berger is a poor writer, but why must she give away the ending (or at least important “surprise” plot twists) to the films she reviews week after week? In this week’s review of Contact (Film, 7/11), she happily tells us the results of Jodie Foster’s journey through space, something that effectively spoils the movie for readers of her reviews.
Film reviews should give a concise summary of a film’s plot, without giving away any surprises. They should always intelligently assess the film’s strengths and weaknesses, but never tell too much, even when the film is utter crap.
I know I should know better than read her reviews, and from now on, I’ve decided I won’t.
