Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys play the kind of rockabilly and jump blues that seem frozen in time. The group exudes Rockwellian Americana charm right down to the “Flxible ’49” tour bus that’s featured on both the back cover of its latest release, Feelin’ Kinda Lucky, and on the track “Big 49,” during which its engine roars mightily. Other tunes on the CD are less noisy but just as strong. Lee Jeffriess’ steel guitar provides a country feel (most notably on “Backdoor Dan” and the instrumental “Bugtussle Saturday Night”), while Big Sandy’s pitch-perfect voice lends itself equally well to the western swing of “The Loser’s Blues” and a softer ditty, “I’m Gonna Leave.” After a plum spot opening for Son Volt earlier this year, the group has moved on to headline a tour of its own that lands at 9:30 p.m. at Twist & Shout, 4800 Auburn Ave., Bethesda. $9.
