The matching suits are the tip-off: The Big Blue Hearts play sad, country-tinged ballads about lost love, and singer/songwriter David Fisher has a suitably bleak background story (a traumatic childhood in small-town Virginia), but this San Francisco-area quartet doesn’t summon the darkest of alt-country anguish. These canny Roy Orbison devotees are the country-rock equivalent of lounge music revivalists: They’re into heartbreak because it’s cool, classy, and quaint.
