Regarding “Disappearing Art” (7/18):

The article stated, “Snitching is a ready-made way to show prison administrators that you’re a good guy, that you respect authority…that you’re not one of ‘them’…”; it’s a great way to get yourself cut with a mattress coil or killed in there. After being married to someone who couldn’t help becoming an inmate more than once, you learn that the authorities do not see you as the good seed when you tattle, but rather as dead meat. They do not care about you. Half the time, the guards instigate fights and killings. Maybe this wasn’t such a terrible happenstance, but who do you think had Jeffrey Dahmer killed?

Escaping? Of course. They all dream of escaping.
