While I agree completely with the “myth of Washington superiority,” John Cloud is still off base in “New York Fetish” (8/1). Hopefully you wrote this nonsense while on a one-way train ride to N.Y.C. Surely I’m not supposed to take seriously someone who points out that “New York actually has a greater purchase on Southernness than D.C.” and follows that up with the fact that in New York, “you can buy a rubber vagina on the street for $5.” Gee. Thanks for the heads up, John. I hear shoppers can haggle with the street vendors up there, buddy. Good luck!
