It was too bad that Jason Cherkis used his review of Lilith Fair (“Girly Town,” 8/8) as a forum for pouting over his pathetic love life. Wrapped up in his bitter stereotyping of the female performers and indignance that they could be both feminist and sexy, Cherkis missed out on experiencing Jill Sobule’s dry wit, Fiona Apple’s self-destructive energy, and Jewel’s amazing craftsmanship. If Cherkis doesn’t lighten up, his two-year dry spell without a girlfriend will undoubtedly extend into the next millennium.
