Ethno but not techno, Ghost’s Eastern-tinged art-rock draws more on early-’70s eclecticism than its disco-derived ’90s counterpart. Oddly enough, this Tokyo neo-hippie septet largely avoids its own country’s traditional timbres. Instead, the band’s latest album, Lamarabirabi, cultivates an Indo-Arabic sound that at its best is intoxicatingly polyrhythmic, but which occasionally slips into mere new-age burble. With Golden and Check Please at 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $7. (202) 667-7960. (MJ)
