Techno’s favorite folkie, Beth Orton, is comfortable with bleeps and beats, both on her own album, Trailer Park, and in her guest shots on the Chemical Brothers’ discs. Still, she plays guitar and writes songs more or less the way Joni Mitchell used to do, and is better off singing such tuneful folk-rockers as “Live As You Dream” and “Someone’s Daughter” than trance-touched ballads like “Galaxy of Emptiness.” Citizen Cope opens at 8:45 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW. $5.
