Once a year our mellow haven of political correctness, Takoma Park, celebrates with the “Takoma Park Folk Festival.” This year’s musicians range from the Acoustic Outlet’s swingin’ progressive bluegrass and Fabrangen Fiddlers’ bluegrass/klezmer fusion to Krewe of Renegades’ funky New Orleans party music, Yarawi’s lilting Andean folk melodies, and the Grandsons’ mix of rockabilly, Cajun, and roots country. There will be an open dance floor and roaming performances by the Rock Creek Morris Women and banjoist Frank Castle. No doubt, community groups will peddle worthy causes and wares by craftsmen and food vendors from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Rd., Takoma Park. FREE.
