Choreographer and dancer Helanius J. Wilkins writes in his press release that he is “by far D.C.’s most exciting, cutting-edge, and provocative emerging young artist.” He describes his latest work, “Midrash: Filling the Empty Space,” as an “innovative, captivating site-specific event…a multi-dimensional, multi-media dance performance.” And while this brash 24-year-old exhibits no shortage of adjectives or chutzpah, the truth remains to be seen. In this collaboration between dancers, visual artists, and musicians celebrating the D.C. Jewish Community Center’s history, the audience will follow the performance as it moves from the outside steps through the building. Which should be interesting, to say the least. Helanius J. Wilkins/ DIMENSIONS performs at 7:30 p.m. at D.C. Jewish Community Center, 16th & Q Sts. NW. $20. (301) 738-7073. (Holly Bass)
