Six months ago, the roots country/rockabilly quartet Ruthie and the Wranglers released its first CD, Wrangler City. On it, the group manages to mix rockabilly and honky-tonk tunes with the traditional cowboy song style of “Tomorrow We Will Ride (The Cowgirl’s Prayer)” and “I Wanna Be Your Auctioneer,” a catchy number with a Nashville-goes-Merseybeat twang. Ruthie Logsdon’s singing leads the band from country-fried rock ‘n’ roll to tender ballads with great versatility. See their T&S debut with Buffalo, N.Y.’s alternative country heroes, the Steam Donkeys, at 9 p.m. at Twist and Shout, 4800 Auburn Ave., Bethesda. $6. (301) 652-3383. (Ken Roseman)
