Ta-Nehisi Coates claims Clarence Thomas’ “lynching failed, but [Anita] Hill’s didn’t” (City Lights, 9/26). After being toasted by the liberal media as a modern Sojourner Truth, subject to dozens of softball interviews, and handed a $1-million book contract and a surfeit of speaking fees, Anita Hill has been “lynched”? Black Americans who really were lynched must roll in their graves at the depths of liberal hyperbole.
