Success! You're on the list.

Over the years, Washington women have marched, burned personal items in public, and lobbied for equal rights. But what about the right to rock ‘n’ roll? D.C.’s music scene may seem like a man’s world, but with the help of Lammas bookstore, local rocker Melissa Wood is putting the estrogen back into DIY. The five-hour festival she organized, “Riot on Da Roof,” features local poets and acoustic performers as well as three distinctive all-girl bands. There will be the fried green tomato-lovin’ rockabilly of the Jillaroos, the dynamic pop of Dead Girls and Other Stories, and the mood-swinging, melodic punk of Wood’s own band, Peyote Circus. From 4-9 p.m. at Lammas, 1607 17th St. NW. FREE. (202) 775-8218. (Holly Bass)
