It’s sounds like a gimmick: Pair a 100-pound, 5-foot woman with a 300-pound, 6-foot man and watch them perform eclectic modern dance to the music of Mozart and Brahms. But “Do We Dare?” is a study in opposites by Heidi Latsky and Larry Goldhuber that works. Or rather, they work it. They work the obvious humor of pairing two dramatically different-size dancers, and they work against the stereotypessometimes he’s sensitive and vulnerable while she’s strong. But more than this, both of these former Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane company members are good dancers and inventive choreographers who dare their audiences to follow suit. At 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday at Dance Place, 3225 8th St. NE. $15. (202) 269-1600. (Holly Bass)
