MONDAY
If his Gates of Heaven and The Thin Blue Line haven’t already convinced you that truth is stranger than fiction, let Errol Morris introduce you to the naked mole rat, the only mammal that lives in an insectlike society. An expert on the rats joins a big-cat trainer, a robot builder, and a topiary gardener in Morris’ new film, Fast, Cheap, and Out of Control. After tonight’s preview screening of the movie, the filmmaker will discuss some of the issues it raises with Rob Schumaker, the coordinator of the National Zoo’s Orangutan Language Project. At 7 p.m. at the Museum of American History’s Carmichael Auditorium, 14th & Constitution Ave. NW. $13. For reservations call (202) 357-3030. (Mark Jenkins)
