It’s a different lineup since we last saw them, but this appearance of the
Nuyorican Poets Cafe Live! promises to be an oral feast. The original Nuyorican, Miguel Algarin, master of spoken-word clave rhythms, returns, along with Tracie Morris, a hiphop poet who cuts words and phrases faster than Grandmaster Flash in his furious heyday. R.E. Gaines is no stranger to the Cafe or to Broadway; one of the first spoken-word artists to come out on a major-label CD, Gaines also penned the lyrics for Bring in ‘da Noise, Bring in ‘da Funk. Newcomers Carl Hancock Rux, a performance artist with an unforgettable baritone voice, and Aileen Reyes, whose powerful words belie her youth, round out the set. At 8 p.m. at the Barns of Wolf Trap, 1624 Trap Rd., Vienna. $16. (703) 938-2404. (Holly Bass)
