If nothing else, Politically Incorrect has proved that the phrase “Republican babe” is not an oxymoron. Nearly every week, host Bill Maher finds yet another short-skirted conservative to cross swords with a bleeding-heart sitcom star. Maher is bringing his show to town for a week of inside-the-Beltway japery and an evening of stand-up. “Washington is my favorite place for stand-up,” says Maher. “I can do things in D.C. that I can’t do in any other city in the country. Because national news is local news there.” And sometimes vice versa. Our mayor, for instance. “Certain things stick to people,” explains Maher. “O.J. and ‘knife.’ Marv Albert and ‘toupee.’” Thus “Barry” and “pipe” is a guaranteed laugh. Also, “the phrase ‘bitch set me up’ will live in the annals of history,” the comic says. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in Bartlett’s.” Though PI tapings are sold out, Maher is performing a quotable set at 9:30 p.m. at George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium, 730 21st St. NW. $15.
