THURSDAY

Longtime go-go promoter Ken “Icy-Ice” Moore pays no mind to the notion that the late showtimes he selects help foster the occasionally life-threatening atmosphere of our homegrown funk scene and discourage attendance by people with day jobs. Always promising tight security, featuring “silence the violence” messages on his concert line, and currently introducing Sunday matinees, Moore is throwing himself a birthday and Thanksgiving bash with Rare Essence, the Junkyard Band, the Northeast Groovers, and the Huck-a-Bucks. Rare Essence will feature its new single “Playa Haters” and jams from its upcoming CD. Those with no after-dinner obligations can happily sweat off all that bird and stuffing until the wee hours. At 10 p.m. at the Icebox (formerly DeZulu Cave), 2221 Adams Pl. NE. $15-20. (301) 420-2718. (Steve Kiviat)
