The Washington Psychotronic Film Society remains a tireless champion of, and refuge for, filmmakers who won’t, or can’t, succumb to Hollywood’s trite formula for entertainment product. This evening’s “Independent Film Showcase” features shorts from around the world. Included on the program is the work of twisted visionary Alvin Ecarma, whose My Dog Has a Cyst is fairly sick; his collection, Alvin Ecarma Salutes the Tobacco Growers of America, was a winner at the last Psycho Awards. The event

is also an open screening, and filmmakers are invited to bring their own work.

At 8 p.m. at Lucky Bar, 1221 Connecticut Ave. NW. $2. (202) 331-3733.
