You have a nerve to write an article about a subject that you know nothing about (“Bad Sport,” 12/26/97). I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C., area. For you to write an article about George Michael that shows him as a “loudmouth” is an example that you have no idea what you are talking about. I grew up watching George, Jim, Susan, Barbara, and Bob. When I was a child, I remember kids saying that they wanted to be George Michael when they grew up because these people made watching the news interesting to children and adults. I have accepted the Channel 4 team as a fixture of Washington, D.C. For you to write a horrible article about a great person who cares about his work and the community shows that you are not from the Washington area and have no clue what is good newscasting. George is a man who makes fans out of out-of-towners for the Redskins, Capitals, and Wizards. As Washington grows, people who live in this area will grow with Washington, and George is one of the people who makes Washington fans out of residents. Maybe you should try writing about something that you know about instead of talking about one of the greatest entertainers in the news industry.
