“Stop trashing the D.C. government,” wrote Erik Wemple (“The Department of Public Works Works,” 12/26/97). I’d like to join that sentiment with my own tale. Four years ago, when I renewed my drivers license, it took about 20 to 25 minutesnot bad.
I wondered how it would go this time; it was the end of the day and folks were tired. But they were always professional, and a positive attitude always brought the same response. This year I breezed through in about 10 minutes. My longest wait was for the photo to develop and be sealed in plastic.
