MONDAY
It was early on a Sunday morning. Kepone’s guitarist Tim Harriss awoke to frantic banging on his front door. He sleepily tripped down the stairs, his dyed-black hair sticking out in every direction. Standing on Harriss’ porch, a delivery man, dressed in blue polyester, handed him a priority overnight package. “Sign here,” he mumbled, shoving a clipboard into Harriss’ chest. As Harriss stood in his open doorway, he ripped into the package, uncovering layer after layer of carefully wrapped newsprint. Knee-high in paper, he finally reached its core: a small plastic clown head, no bigger than his palm. Suddenly, the interruption to his slumber made sense. “Pegboy,” he growled, clutching the clown. Longtime tourmates, the clown-obsessed Pegboy and Kepone, along with Burning Airlines, play at 8:15 p.m. at the 9:30 Club, 815 V St. NW. $8. (202) 393-0930. (Elisa Nader)
