Hot dog, bun, and condiments: 50 cents

Ogden Entertainment, which operates the arena’s concessions, buys its dogs from Esskay, a formerly independent supplier recently acquired by Smithfield. Esskay won’t say what it charges for the dogs, but longtime D.C. hot dog wholesaler Sam Kramer of Kramer Meats says, “Esskay is getting 30 to 35 cents a dog”—perhaps even less, since the arena does good volume.

Tony Santoni of Esskay says supermarkets sell buns at about 30 percent above wholesale prices, which puts the price of one bun at a dime. Ketchup, mustard, relish, and napkins add an extra nickel, according to Santoni.
