MONDAY

Since the release of their record last spring, the Sorts have been busy brewing up even more delectable and distinctively original cuts to present tonight at the Black Cat. The trio recently finished up its latest album, More There, at WGNS, and it’s due out in mid-March on the up-and-coming Slowdime label. Meanwhile, a tour is in the works for late February. Opening act Faraquet boasts two members of Smart Went Crazy, but don’t expect the promising threesome to sound much like the Dischord band or to consider this a mere side project. Devin Ocampo has traded in his drumsticks for a mike and a robust guitar sound, while bassist Jeff Boswell and drummer Chad Molter (both Washington City Paper employees) provide hefty rhythmic support. At 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Amy Domingues)
