On The Way It Is, Dikki Du & the Zydeco Crew generate as much kinetic energy as a young ska band. Du, born Troy Carrier, didn’t learn to write and play raucous Louisiana two-steps from records; he just watched his family. By age 12, he was scraping the rubboard in his father Roy’s band, and then he spent years pounding skins in his brother Chubby’s band before picking up the squeezebox, gathering four of his cousins, and starting Carrier family band No. 3. While the CD could use more variations in its tempos and several memorably crafted choruses, exuberant cuts like “Thursday Night at the Offshore Lounge” should leave dancers too sweaty to complain. At 6 p.m. at Twist & Shout, 4800 Auburn Ave., Bethesda. $10. (301) 652-3383. (Steve Kiviat)
