WEDNESDAY

From the lapsed-Catholic ravings of Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You to the Tennessee Williams spoofery of For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls, Christopher Durang has had quite a career. His Beyond Therapy is still the sharpest shrink satire in French’s catalog, and no one has ever skewered parenting with more glee than he did in Baby With the Bathwater. Somehow, he has also found time to tap-dance on Broadway with Julie Andrews and pen a TV show or six. Ought to be plenty to chat about when he sits down with the Shakespeare Theatre’s Michael Kahn in the third evening of the Corcoran’s “Playwrights Series.” Should things get slow, Kahn can always ask him for backstage gossip about fellow Yalie Meryl Streep. At 7:30 p.m. at the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s Hammer Auditorium, 17th & New York Ave. NW. $30. For reservations call (202) 639-1770. (Bob Mondello)
