MONDAY

It’s a Slowdime showcase tonight, celebrating the release of new albums by two fetchingly able local bands. June of ’44 mate and former Crownhate Ruin bassist Fred Erskine has come into his own at the front of the Boom, whose debut Movin’ Out tosses around the blues with a vicious horn section and down-and-dirty vocals about shit luck and sour deals. Switch some instruments around, subtract some members, and add another, and you’ve got openers the Sorts, fresh from the road, combining versatility with smooth grooves on their third record, More There. At 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Amy Domingues)
