In every creative community there is someone working behind the scenes to make things happen. Too often these artists working to ensure that others are heard don’t have the opportunity to present their own creativity. Laurie Stroblas is one of the most important poetry activists in D.C. As director of the District Lines Poetry Project, she teaches creative writing to area schoolchildren and brings their poetry to the people via posters in Metro buses and trains. Joining Stroblas’ poetry reading tonight will be Susan Holliday, a social worker by day, whose poems have appeared in Wordwrights and Folio magazines. At 8 p.m. at Glenview Mansion, 603 Edmonston Dr., Rockville. Free. (301) 309-3354. (HB)
