THURSDAY
From the 15-minute cut available for preview, it seems that Tony Greer’s in-progress hiphop documentary, Word, will be less sweeping but more energetic than last year’s Rhyme and Reason. Greer’s film doesn’t muster all the big names of its predecessorMelle Mel is the best-known talking head in the sample videobut it does offer the rousing live footage the other film lacked. Tonight, Greer will screen some segments from his film and discuss his plans for the finished project. At 8 p.m. at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden’s Ring Auditorium, 7th & Independence Ave. SW. Free. (202) 357-2700. (MJ)
