Paying homage to the Sonics may not be as au courant as paying homage to Brian Wilson, but I doubt the Swingin’ Neckbreakers care. On their third CD, Kick Your Ass, this Trenton, N.J., trio spits out fuzz-toned, three-chord rockers that encapsulate the spirit of the ’60s garage-rock role models they covered on their debut release. Here, the Neckbreakers up the ante by emphasizing the original material of singer Tom Jorgensen, who snarls his tunes “I’m the Mailman” and “Do the Stand,” obscure nuggets such as “Rip It, Rip It Up,” and a song apiece from Jerry Lee Lewis and Love with equal aplomb. With the Misery Makers at 9 p.m. at Metro Cafe, 1522 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 518-7900. (SK)
