It’s a Nueva York salsa night in the District. New school R&B-cum-Latino stars DLG will be at Diversite, while Larry Harlow and the Latin Legends will be at UDC as part of the weekend-long “Washington D.C. Salsa Festival.” Harlow, a college-trained pianist, moved to Havana briefly in the ’50s. After returning to New York, he maintained the beat and added jazzy solos alongside a Who’s Who of Cuban and Puerto Rican greats for decades in seminal big bands such as the Fania Allstars. Expert at arranging songs and conducting the stylish interplay between the horn, string, and rhythm sections, he’ll perform such tasks tonight, aided by Fania vets like cuatro strummer Yomo Toro and vocalist Adalberto Santiago. At 11 p.m. at the University of the District of Columbia’s Firebird Inn, 4200 Connecticut Ave. NW. $30. (202) 638-6464. (Steve Kiviat)
