WEDNESDAY
The New Alaska Film Society is hosting underground filmmaker Nick Zedd at a screening of his latest work, Why Do You Exist?, and other shorts. Zedd’s film career began in the early days of punk, but works from the end of the Reagan Revolution found the artist still waving his tattered Ramones-Sex Pistols flag. Those who reduce John Waters’ career to the last minute of Pink Flamingos will surely appreciate the aggressive crudity of Zedd’s Police State and Thrust in Me. As the filmmaker will be on hand, ask him from which peep show porn loop he took the sex footage for Whoregasm. At 8:30 p.m. at the Black Cat, 1831 14th St. NW. $5. (202) 667-7960. (Dave Nuttycombe)
