The yuppie set can’t spend money fast enough in the home-improvement department, but they need help when it comes to choosing the correct shade of white for the living room or the most efficent way to organize their CDs. Those who can’t figure it out for themselves can make a day of “Entertaining With Great Style,” a domestic extravaganza at the Washington Design Center. It’s bound to inspire the interior decorations and dinner parties at many a Washingtonian’s abode. Featured are D.C. chef extraordinaire Nora Pouillon, who will demonstrate the making of tapanades, canapes, and sauces; and House Beautiful magazine’s food and entertainment editor Jane Ellis, who will sign copies her book Entertaining, giving Martha a run for her money. Those who test-drive a Chrysler will receive a copy of House Beautiful’s Bedrooms. Bring your color swatches and room dimensions. From 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to the Washington Design Center, 300 D St. SW. Free. For reservations call (212) 903-5010. (Tina Plottel)
